Which of the following statements most accurately describes your view on power-sharing?
As in the video, power sharing is step toward democracy, but it is an early step. In order to move forward, all parties must feel included and respected. Every faction must have a say in how the country is going to be governed. Once this is established, then more steps can be taken. If this step is skipped, there will be more conflict.
power sharing in my opinion helps reduce the tension and paves the way for a lasting solution, it seldom last long and must quickly be replaced by a constructive democratic process.
Power sharing is very necessary as it guarantees a broad participation for the community at all levels of government which reduces the rate of conflicts, but it remains incomplete procedure with out addressing issues such as enhancement of economic system, raising the capacity of people and provision of basic services; thus will eradicate the sources of tensions and lead to the country`s political development and prosperity.
Power sharing is a necessary first step in a country’s political development after conflict because the conflict itself is an instrument of division along myriad fault lines for e.g. tribal allegiance or affiliations; regionalism; ideology; religion and and many of the other schisms. Therefore, it becomes imperative to start the process of trust building and reconciliation through power sharing as part of groundwork preparation for democratic elections. In practice, power sharing is always considered an interim measure with a specific time frame and most often over a short period of time.
